A bag of my favorite chips, coke, candy, my bed and a classic romantic comedy. This right there is the definition of a perfect Saturday night for me. It is the perfect way to unwind and relax. Romantic comedies are a go to when I just want to chill out, and who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy; a little romance, some great jokes, a really hot hero (in my case since I’m a girl) and a happy ending make for a really enjoyable movie.
There have been some great romantic comedies over the years. Crazy stupid love, blended, 27 dresses are some of the iconic ones. The way romance is mixed with comedy in these movies is genius and makes the audience feel light and keeps them entertained.
Many a times romantic comedies are dissed for being in the same category as chick flicks and are deemed as being movies which only girls watch. However let’s get one thing cleared, EVERYONE loves romantic comedies and they aren’t a feminine genre.
I for one am a great fan of rom-coms and today we’ll be looking at the top 10 best romantic comedies ever to be made. Get your popcorn ready because you might need it after this article.
1. 500 Days of Summer
This romantic comedy is a little different than the others. Where other rom-coms have happy endings where the couple always ends up together, that is not the case in this film. Starring the beautiful Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon- Levitt the film is quite entertaining yet very realistic.
2. Life as We Know it
this movie has made my list of favorite rom-coms because of how cute it is. I know guys I’m the lovey-dovey type. I admit. But this movie starring the oh so handsome Josh Duhamel and the beautiful Katherine Hiegl along with the cute child actor melts my heart every time. The movie is about two people who’re complete opposites but end up having to take care of a baby and how they get close in the process. A must watch Hollywood movie!
3. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
We love all things Tiffany’s don’t we. This movie is iconic and will be watched for years to come. Starring the legend Audrey Hepburn with her iconic style the movie shows her a sa New York socialite dating a wide range of rich men. She plays the character of a woman every man dreams of being with. The movie is highly entertaining!
4. 10 Things I Hate About You
Being one of Heath Ledger’s earliest movies it is one that we will never forget. The movie is about a guy who takes out a girl because he is paid to do so by his friend who wants to date the girl’s younger sister. The great pairing of the lead actors and their chemistry brings the romance alive in the movie and the comedy along with it makes it worth watching.
5. Love Actually
Packed with an all-star cast this movie tells a story of many different love stories that are somehow intertwined and connected in a way. It’s a perfectly structured comedy coupled with the right amount of romance. The movie shows a guy falling for a woman who doesn’t speak English, a woman falling in love with her boss and thus many love stories each different from the other but connected in a way.
6. Silver Linings Playbook
This movie is about two unconventional people who’re emotionally handicapped who meet each other at a dinner party and that is where their story begins from. To everyone else the two people are broken and unstable but with each other they live life and enjoy it. It’s a mist watch!
7. Pretty Woman
we can’t not mention this movie in this list. The legendary Julia Roberts and Richard Gere put the screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry. The movie is about a businessman falling for a prostitute. The movie shows an unconventional couple. It is funny, romantic and highly entertaining!
8. Bridget Jones’s Diary
if you’re on search for a great rom-com that will never disappoint you, Bridget Jones’s Diary is the one to go for. The film is an adaptation of a book with the same name. Starring Rene Zellwegger and Hugh Grant this movie will have you glued to the screen the entire time.
9. My Best Friend’s Wedding
Julia Roberts tries for a different role in this move than her regular everybody’s sweetheart and plays the character of a girl who tries to steal back her old boyfriend. Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulnorey make the movie even more entertaining and fun to watch.
10. The Wedding Singer
Adam Sandler being a favorite in rom-coms makes another hit with this movie. Here he plays the role of a wedding singer who makes Drew Barrymore fall for his voice and ends up with the girl. Its Adam Sandler and Drew Barymore guys. The pair from the blended. What more reason do you want to watch this movie?
